Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can I use one machine for the car and a wood deck?
Both appear in the manual’s application guidance. Choose an appropriate broad tip, test the surface and keep the jet away from vulnerable finishes.
Explore this need in the finder →Does it genuinely change pressure, rather than only the spray pattern?
Yes. The LOW/HIGH selector changes the documented working operating mode. The fan tips are a separate choice.
Explore this need in the finder →Will it supply soap and put the hose away neatly?
The reviewed package includes its detergent tank, soap tip and a crank-operated high-pressure hose reel. Soap application is a separate stage.
Explore this need in the finder →Two useful working modes, with the hose kept on the machine
The SPX4001-PRO makes most sense for a homeowner who wants a wheeled electric washer for several jobs around the property and values a proper hose reel. Its useful distinction is a LOW/HIGH operating selector combined with interchangeable spray tips. That gives you a pressure-mode choice before you decide how wide the spray should be. It does not remove the need to judge the surface: aged paint, soft wood and loose trim still need care.
This is the machine described in Sun Joe’s 2018 SPX4001-PRO manual. It is an earlier reference, useful when comparing an existing machine or a precisely identified offer. Check the actual model plate and supplied parts rather than assuming a newer similarly named Sun Joe has the same output or accessories.
Compare the working figures, not two headline maxima
The manual separates two normal operating pairs. LOW is rated at 870 PSI and 1.05 GPM; HIGH at 1450 PSI and 1.24 GPM. These are much more informative for a buyer than joining the advertised 2030 PSI maximum to the 1.76 GPM maximum. The peak pressure and maximum flow are not a promise that both occur together while you clean.
For the questionnaire, this means a request for at least 1400 working PSI and 1.2 working GPM can be evaluated against the HIGH mode as one real configuration. The LOW mode does not meet that same requirement. Selecting a pressure mode is also different from fitting a wider nozzle: the latter distributes the jet, while the machine’s selector changes its operating setting.
Where the supplied tips help
The package has five quick-connect tips, from a narrow 0-degree jet through wider fans to a black soap tip, plus a turbo nozzle. The manual discusses hard surfaces, siding, wood decks and vehicles in its application guidance. A broad fan is the sensible starting point for vulnerable materials, with a test in an inconspicuous place. A turbo nozzle concentrates a rotating jet; having one in the box is useful for suitable hard surfaces, not a reason to use it on paintwork.
Someone washing both a car and a deck should think about setup changes, not look for one aggressive nozzle to do everything. Change tips only after the instructed shutdown and pressure-release steps. Keep the nozzle pointed away from people, pets and electrical equipment. Never treat the ability to remove stubborn dirt as proof that the underlying finish will tolerate the same treatment.
The soap tank is a separate cleaning stage
A 1.6-liter onboard detergent tank and the supplied soap tip provide an included soap route. Use a cleaner approved for this washer and follow the specified application and rinse sequence. Detergent is not delivered at the HIGH rinse rating simply because the tank is on the same machine. You change to the soap arrangement, apply the cleaner, then return to an appropriate rinse tip.
This suits someone who wants one cart to hold the cleaning solution and basic accessories. It is less compelling if your main requirement is a large foam-cannon bottle or a specialized surface-cleaner attachment: those are different accessories, and a surface cleaner is not listed in the reviewed carton contents.
Plan the hose, outlet and garden-water route
The high-pressure hose is 20 feet long and the GFCI power cord is 35 feet. The reel is an organizational benefit, especially when putting the machine away; it does not turn a 20-foot hose into a longer working radius. Plan where the cart will stand, how the hose will pass around a vehicle and whether you will need to reposition the washer.
The documented supply is 120 V, 60 Hz at 14.5 A, together with clean pressurized garden water. The manual limits inlet temperature to 104°F and describes a garden-hose connection, not suction from an unpressurized bucket. Purge the water route before running the pump and protect the machine from freezing during storage. Water and mains leads are both part of the setup, even though the cart itself rolls.
Who should choose a different arrangement?
Choose a battery or onboard-tank cleaner if your real difficulty is reaching a place without an outlet or pressurized tap. Choose a different hose arrangement if moving the cart around a larger vehicle is the persistent annoyance. For this model, the reason to choose it is the combination of two documented working modes, a supplied turbo nozzle and an actual reel—not an invented overall power score.
