Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
I move around a car. Will the cleaner roll with me?
Its rear wheels and steering casters suit movement over a flat working area, while water and power connections still limit the route.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I turn the pressure down for a wooden deck?
The Vario Power wand provides real pressure adjustment. Use a discreet test and keep the aggressive Dirtblaster away from vulnerable wood.
Explore this need in the finder →Does it include an integrated working-hose reel?
No. The washer stores a coiled hose; separately listed garden-hose trolleys are not a built-in high-pressure reel.

The Kärcher K 3 Follow Me makes the most sense when your frustration is repeatedly moving an upright washer, rather than needing a stronger engine. Its low body, rear wheels and steering casters are meant to roll along as you work. That is a useful arrangement for circling a car or moving between patio furniture. It still needs a garden-water connection and an electrical supply; following you does not make it a cordless or self-contained cleaner.
This review concerns US order 1.601-990.0. Kärcher's US listing now identifies it as outside its current range, so treat it as an earlier model to compare carefully with a particular offer or a machine you already own. A newly dated specification sheet does not establish that a new production run is available.
Choose the wand for the surface
The most important control is the Vario Power wand. Its collar changes cleaning pressure, allowing a gentler setting for vulnerable surfaces and a stronger setting where appropriate. This is a more useful distinction than merely changing the shape of a fixed-pressure jet. The original US handbook also includes a Dirtblaster rotary wand. It concentrates the water aggressively and is not the sensible default for a car, painted trim, siding or a wooden deck.
For a household mixing vehicle washing and occasional hard-surface cleaning, having these two distinct tools is valuable. Keep them mentally separate: the attachment that helps attack a stubborn patch on suitable masonry can also damage a surface you wanted to preserve. Begin with a discreet test, use the surface maker's cleaning advice, and avoid treating a small rotary jet as a substitute for patience.
Soap is a separate, low-pressure step
The removable detergent tank works with the Vario wand's low-pressure Mix setting. Apply an appropriate washer detergent, allow the intended dwell time without letting it dry, and then change to a suitable rinse setting. Filling the tank does not mean detergent will automatically flow at every pressure. Flush the detergent path with clean water afterwards.
This arrangement suits car washing and small household sections more naturally than a buyer seeking a dedicated foam cannon. A separate foamer and a broad patio-cleaning attachment appear among optional accessories; their presence in a catalog is not evidence that they are in the box. In particular, do not count the household washer's tank as a promise of thick vehicle-detailing foam.
Check the supplied hose, not just the model name
Kärcher's US sheet dated May 2025 specifies a 25-foot high-pressure hose for this order. Earlier documentation associated with the same order describes a shorter 15-foot package. Ask the seller which hose is actually supplied, especially with older or replacement stock. A longer hose expands your working circle, but dragging the machine over steps or rough ground remains different from rolling it across a flat patio.
The body has storage for coiled hose and wands. That is not a built-in high-pressure hose reel. A garden-hose trolley shown elsewhere in the accessory pages is another separate item. If winding the working hose onto an integrated reel is a firm requirement, this is not the configuration to choose.
What the headline numbers leave out
The exact US handbook specifies 120 volts and 13 amps, with a 1,800 PSI maximum and a 1.3 GPM water-volume figure. Those labels do not establish a verified continuous pressure-and-flow operating pair. They are inadequate for promising a particular cleaning speed against another washer's working rating.
The practical electrical restriction is clearer: the handbook calls for an individual branch circuit and prohibits extension cords. Plan where the machine will stand before starting. Its GFCI plug is part of the protection system and needs the prescribed check. The specified use is household cleaning, not a commercial duty guarantee.
Who should shortlist it?
Consider this earlier K 3 when you want rolling household mobility, real pressure adjustment and an onboard soap route for varied jobs near water and power. Look elsewhere for bucket-fed operation, a built-in reel, or a well-established working-output threshold. Before buying an older example, confirm the exact order, US nameplate, included hose and both wands. Those details affect the experience much more directly than a generic K 3 family name.
