Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can I clean outdoor gear from a fresh-water container using my DEWALT battery system?
Yes. The DCPW550B has a documented suction arrangement and uses DEWALT 20V MAX packs. Keep the inlet filter submerged and supply the battery and charger separately.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the B package include both battery and charger?
No. It is explicitly tool-only. Select a confirmed complete kit if both items must arrive with the cleaner.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the supplied 20-foot hose meet my outlet-hose reach requirement?
No. That length belongs to the inlet suction hose; the spray wand mounts directly on the handheld body.
Explore this need in the finder →The DEWALT DCPW550B is a useful starting point for a DEWALT battery owner who wants to rinse outdoor gear or a vehicle without bringing a wheeled washer to a faucet. It can use a garden feed or draw clean water through its supplied suction hose. The B package is tool-only, so the convenience depends on having a suitable battery and charger or buying them separately.
The water freedom is real, but not unlimited
The manual gives an actual container-draw setup: connect the suction hose through the filter and keep its filtered end submerged in fresh water. That makes a clean container a documented operating source, rather than an assumption based on a garden-hose connector. It is helpful when a boat, bike or equipment is parked away from the house.
Plan the water supply before the job. A finite container still empties, and the intake filter must remain covered. Fresh water is the important condition: the manual excludes salt water, chemical solutions and dirty or corrosive liquids through that suction route. The soap attachment has its own role; do not premix chemicals into the container simply because it seems faster.
The supplied hose is a 20-foot inlet suction hose. It is not a 20-foot high-pressure extension between a ground unit and a gun. This is a handheld cleaner with its wand attached to the body, so the tool and battery stay in your hands as you move.
Check the battery package
The exact DCPW550B contents exclude a battery and charger. It uses the DEWALT 20V MAX system; voltage similarity alone does not establish another brand's pack compatibility. If you need a ready-to-use battery package, choose an explicitly documented kit instead of treating the B suffix as a complete set.
Battery capacity, condition and the selected mode affect how a portable job works. This assessment does not invent a runtime for a pack that is not supplied. Also consider where you will charge and keep spare batteries dry; being cordless at the cleaner does not turn the separate charger into wet-weather equipment.
Two speeds, four separate rinse nozzles
The manual documents HI and LO modes. That is genuine user pressure-related control, rather than simply rotating a nozzle to a wider fan. The higher mode trades runtime for cleaning output, so a small delicate job and a larger portable rinse need not use the same setting.
The US package lists a turbo nozzle plus 15°, 25° and 40° tips, as well as a soap bottle. It is not a five-in-one nozzle. The original task chart connects the tips to different jobs, including vehicles, wood and hard surfaces. It also warns that pressure can damage paint, trim, glass and wood. Check the surface and choose the appropriate mode, tip and distance before spraying.
The 550 PSI figure is expressly a maximum. The original table separately calls 1.0 GPM rated flow. Do not turn those into an established working-pressure pair or assume the portable cleaner will complete the same heavy restoration task as a larger conventional washer. Choose the type of machine for the job first.
Soap and cleanup
The supplied soap bottle connects in place of the rinse attachment for detergent application. Use the approved pressure-washer cleaner category, follow its dilution instructions and test it on the finish. A bottle is useful for a controlled section; it is not evidence that soap is delivered at the maximum rinse-pressure figure.
Afterward, release pressure and remove the battery before disconnecting or servicing attachments. Rinse the soap bottle, suction hose and filters as instructed, drain the system and store it above freezing. Keeping the filter clear matters particularly when the water source is a portable container.
Who should choose it?
Choose the DCPW550B for hand-carried, container-capable cleanup when you can supply the correct DEWALT battery equipment. Choose a complete battery kit if you own no compatible packs. For a long outlet hose, sustained large-area hardscape work or a firm minimum working-pressure requirement, compare a conventional washer with those exact conditions documented.
